Description of Position:
Under the supervision of the Recreation Therapy Manager, the Recreation Assistant works as member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team implementing Recreation Therapy services to 100 seniors who live in a supportive living environment at Grace Manor. You will assist in planning, implementing and evaluating group and individual, structured and unstructured therapeutic programming that enhance resident recreation and leisure lifestyles. This includes assisting resident(s) with community outings.
- Post-secondary education in Recreation Therapy or a related field;
- Experience working in recreation, with mental health and seniors is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and use of the Internet*
- CPR and Standard First Aid
Additional Information: The successful candidate will implement the daily therapeutic recreation programs (structured and unstructured), including but not limited to physical, emotional, cognitive and social programs; will also implement other standard RT interventions. Completes and maintains all documentation required by policy, procedure and regulations of funding agencies.
Please note a high level of physical fitness is required as this position entails program setup, take down, and resident gathering.
Hours of Work – 37.5 Hourly Rate
Monday – Friday as per AUPE Collective Agreement
9:00am – 5:00pm
May include some evenings & weekends
