Recreation Therapy Assistant

Description of Position:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Therapy Manager, the Recreation Therapy Assistant works as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team and provides therapeutic recreation services to residents of Grace Manor. The Assistant also facilitates individual/group, structured and unstructured therapeutic recreation programming including physical, emotional, cognitive and social programs, to enhance resident health and quality of life.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Preference Given To:

  • Post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation
  • Experience working with geriatric populations
  • Work experience in a health care setting
  • Experience working with mental health clients

Additional Information:                                                                                                                Completes and maintains all documentation required by policy, procedure and regulations of funding agencies. A high level of physical fitness is required as this position entails program set-up, take-down and resident gathering. Occasional weekend work may be required. The successful candidate may be required to demonstrate proficiency.
